Why I Want To Go To College

In August 2014, I paid my college tuition to come to the University of Maine Orono for my first semester of freshman year. Like any college freshman, I hope that by coming to college I would gain the skills and knowledge needed for success in my chosen career. I knew I was going to have to put in hard work to achieve this end goal. The constant workload placed on college students today requires that you have a motivator to help you through to graduation. A variety of things can become motivators. The three most common incentives are money, knowledge/education, and the desire to make change in the world or two or all three of them combined. As well as motivators, those three desires also related to the values of capitalism (money), socialism (knowledge), and communism (change in the world). …show more content…
They have a more capitalistic approach to school. They are in a major that when they work hard to earn their degree, it will correlates to money. They don't take enjoyment in what they are learning or if it will benefit the community/world in the process. Then, there are some individuals who go to college and pursue a major that gives them a gain of insight/knowledge. These people have an approach that matches with socialism best. They enjoy their classes because the new information presented to them about their chosen major excites them. They aren't as worried if the knowledge they learn will lead them to a career that pays well. These people also don't conjure ideas about how the world could benefit from their new knowledge. Next, there are the students who choose a major based on its impact it will have on the surround community and world they live in. They have a communism worldview in college. These people put individual needs after the community's needs. They are working hard through college so they can use the gained abilities to benefit the
