Why I Want To Go To College

I always thought that my life should be just as ordinary as anyone else's. In many aspects of my life it is, I have hopes, dreams, and obstacles in the way of those hopes and dreams. However as ordinary as a life can be, there will come complications. I could wish as much as I’d like, that my obstacles would disappear and I would be able to carry on as I pleased. Waiting for someone or something to solve all my problems won’t help me. Wishing won’t make all my problems go away. The only way to grow and move past obstacles is to face them myself. I have lived by these principles through school and I will continue to do so throughout the course of my life. I’ve always liked going to school as a child, I loved being able to work hard and seeing the pride in my parents faces when they’d see my report cards. Despite growing older and now approaching early adulthood I still love the feeling of achievement. I value my work and the consequences that have come with it.
In school I’ve taken my classes seriously striving to improve my learning and understandings of the lessons we would learn. I’m currently taking four college level classes because I knew I could handle the work that would come with it. Every time
The main reason why I’ve worked so hard in school however is because I knew early on that I wanted to be a surgeon.

My father has worked in labor jobs all his life, while my mother with only a GED and work experience managed to get a job at a bank as a QA4. Both of my parents have struggled with their careers and for them to hear me want to take on the medical field was surprising. They had thought me and my brothers would want simple jobs that were substantial enough to make a living for ourselves. Of course they hoped for my brothers and I to achieve a better life than they’ve had but to actually hear one of their children strive for that was still surprising to

There are many Universities that have B.S./M.D. or B.S./ D.D.S joint program throughout United States. However, Howard University is one of the best Universities that have the dual degree programs. The reason why I'm interested in Howard University's B.S/M.D program is it will assist me the tools to succeed in the field of medicine as well as it will allow me to complete the requirements for both the B.S and M.D degree in six years instead of the customary eight years. Through this perspective, I was able to come to the conclusion that if there's one thing I have as much skill as I have a love for, it's medicine and no matter the salary, there's nothing I'd rather be payed to do. Not only do I view this realization as a successful point in my life, but I intend to put in all the hard work necessary to pursue this passion and further fulfill my own definition of success. While success may be something you acquire as an individual, I also personally believe all those that play a role in your daily routine affect this accomplishment. There is no doubt in my mind that I would not be the person I am today if I hadn't received the guidance, love, and support given to me by my parents. I owe any…

“School”, a word that many young children and adults hate to hear or speak. In elementary and high school, students attend classes seven hours a day, five days a week, nine months out of the year. Going to an institution of education is a youth’s full time job. Learning becomes the only thing important in their lives and they are required to devote a large majority of their time to it. Spending almost 12 years of my life in a school, it has had a large influence on my life.…

A good indicator of my potential for academic success as a college student is my actual success as a high school student. Throughout my high school career, I have strived for excellence and challenged myself with honors and AP classes in preparation for college and I currently have a 4.15 GPA with a goal of graduating with a 4.5 GPA, or equivalent on the new grading scale. Although past academic performance is a good indicator and can help measure future potential, I believe the best indicator of my potential for high academic success as a college student and beyond is who I am as an individual. I have always had a love for learning and with that comes a high level of commitment to education. I set high academic standards for myself, go to…

Today I am a doctor, not by chance, but by choice: the choice I made to excel, to strive and to break the stereotype. I come from a small town with limited educational facilities, where going to high school, let alone a university is looked upon as shooting for the moon. Education to me has had such an impact on me, it has helped me get to very place I am today.
