There are a multitude of reasons that I am choosing Virginia Tech as the school that I hope to continue my academic pursuits. A primary reason is my passion in STEM related studies. As a student who has been studying computer science and has a zeal for mathematics, I don’t believe I could choose a more versatile school than Virginia Tech. Virginia Tech is respected highly for its College of Engineering, and I believe it will offer me a challenging yet very promising 2 years. Virginia Tech is not only known for its renowned College of Engineering but it is also known for other attributes.…
Since I have moved to Blacksburg, Virginia Tech has truly been the only university that my eyes and ears have been open to. There is also the fact that the Hokie Birds scattered all through Main Street, and the amount of people in my school sporting Tech gear, is difficult to ignore. What attracted me to Virginia Tech first and foremost, was the sporting. The students around me always got excited for the games, and I personally enjoyed seeing Burnt orange and Chicago maroon all over Blacksburg. The way the students and the community came together during sports made me happy and I couldn’t help but feel pride in living in Blacksburg.…
Being a co-ed school allows me to interact with both genders, and eliminates the sexism aspect that many colleges still have trouble with. Another reason Georgia Tech interests me is because of the many internships, as well as, research…
Being a Hokie would open up a world of possibilities, and there are many reasons why I'd like to be a Hokie, and Here are the top five reasons. The first of which is the curriculum, the challenging, and overall quality of the academics provided at Virginia Tech are very appealing to myself. The second reason as to why I'd like to be a Hokie is the Campus, as I saw when I visited Virginia Tech last spring, I noticed that no matter where you traveled you could see the use of the Hokie stone, and the tradition that is built into each and every brick. The third reason is the diverse student body and the impact that can have on my life. With a large student body present in Virginia Tech, it's easy to meet someone who shares different…
One of the main reasons Georgia Tech appealed to me was the sheer amount of resources it had to help students be successful in such an academically rigorous environment. When I visited tech, it was amazing to see how committed the school was to helping the students be successful. Why Go to College? Jiddu Krishnamurti once wrote, “There is no end to education. It is not that you read a book, pass an examination, and finish with education. The whole of life, from that moment you are born to the moment you die, is a process of learning.” People go to college to get a direction for life.…
Why are you in College? “You must go to college to succeed in life.” This quote is something my parents would regularly say to me as a kid growing up. I grew up thinking every other person in the room with me at school would also graduate with me because I didn’t think there was another route. When I got to high school and realized some people actually did not intend on going to high school it blew my mind.…
Many things in life can be taken from you, but one thing you have total control over is your education. College is important to me because having an education will give me the opportunity to learn new skills that will not only help me excel in my career field but also in my daily life. Being able to provide for my son means everything to me, and in order to be a good leader and provider I HAVE TO be able to support him. I want him to grow up and be proud of who his mom is. I want him to be able to live in a good community, attend good schools (including college) and also play in sports if he chooses to do so.…
As a high school senior, the question I am most used to hearing is, “where do you want to go to college,” and my habitual response is the Wharton Undergraduate School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. But I think that the more apt question is “why do you want to go to college?” Personally, I want to learn. The Wharton motto of “knowledge for action” embodies this desire to learn and use this knowledge to pursue a career in something that engages and interests me. I am an aspiring investment banker and international business executive and am intrigued by mergers and acquisitions, investment banking from an international perspective, and the effect of international events on the global economy and the ensuing effect on corporations.…
I decided to go back to School because I felt the need to continue my education. Management jobs require a Bachelors degree at the minimal. A degree opens up a wider market for job opportunities and is something that will benefit me on my resume. I also started college over twenty five years ago and felt the need to complete what I started. My ultimate goal for this degree is to better myself from a learning perspective, I believe the knowledge that I will receive from the Organizational leadership with a concentration on information technology will help me reach some of my business goals.…
Why would you want someone like me attending your college? Well that is an excellent question; let’s start off with the major I am interested in taking, “Computer engineering”. The reason for the quotes is simply because right now I am at a stage where I am exploring ideas, and comprehending what I actually want to do for my future. I honestly want to attend college to help guide me to the right path. Now what is it that sets me apart from the other applicants to take this major?…
Before attending UNC, I spent my whole life in a small town where everything was familiar. Arriving in Chapel Hill was a change. Suddenly, I didn’t know the quickest way to get to Cookout. Or which roads to avoid during rush hour. Or anything beyond the UNC campus.…
“Do you plan on going to college?” Is a question commonly asked. The answer depends on the person being asked and if they understand the significance of a college education. The importance of college is increasing more each year; therefore, most people today do not hesitate to answer the question with a definite “of course i am.” For me, the answer is always yes.…
