My main source of motivation has always been my two beautiful little girls. I intend to always be a great role model for them and show them that, even if they make mistakes along the way, they can always achieve their dreams if they never give up and always try. Each and every day that I wake up to their sweet smiling faces is just a reminder to me of why I must always keep pushing forward.

My Purpose:

My main purpose in choosing to further my education, and finally obtain a college degree, is that I want to help people. I want to help others succeed in the struggle of getting out of that deep dark hole called Addiction. I know first-hand that it is not an easy thing to do, but I feel that when I combine my knowledge and experience from my past, with all that I will learn on my journey to a degree, I will be able to do wonderful things in the lives and minds of all that seek help.

I have always been one to work extremely hard to get the things I want in life. Although I do not like to fail, there are times in life when I do, but I always get back up and try again. I try my best to never let my level of determination deteriorate, and I feel that both my hard work and my determination are key factors in my perseverance of all challenges that I face.

My Discipline:

Although I do work a full-time job, and raise my two daughters, my discipline is a part of my determination. Once I have set my mind to something, such as obtaining my degree, I do not back down from that decision. I am willing to do whatever it takes to achieve my goal. My family and I function very well by using a schedule, and now that I have set my mind to obtaining my degree, I have set aside time for myself each day so that I can accomplish this goal.

The thing that motivates me most to pursue a college degree is the fact that I have put this off for far too long. Many of my peers are already done with or are starting their Master’s degrees. I really have no legitimate excuse as to why I’ve put this on the back burner. I was just having fun enjoying life, I guess. I’m definitely at a place in my life where I am ready to take this seriously because I understand the importance of education.…

The results of my motivation inventory was a score of 47. According to the Self-motivation quiz data, this indicates that I get things done and do not let anything stand in my way! It also indicates that I am probably self-motivated, goal setting and working toward achieving those goals. The quiz says that I should treasure this and I am inclined to be in agreement because I have been exposed to many people that have little to no self-motivation themselves.…

My Motivation: What motivates me the most to pursue a college degree is that I will be the first person in my family to receive one. My grandmother is the backbone behind this motivation because she was always making sure that academics came first in my life. There was rarely a day that I would come home and she would not ask me questions about my homework, asking what I learned in school, or even looked over my homework. As I got older, she made sure I was a part of a college prep program called AVID from 6th-12th grade and that definitely made a difference for me. It helped me understand the importance of continuing your education and how beneficial it can be to succeeding in life.…
