Why I Want To Continue A Catholic Education

Decent Essays
For the past ten years I have been so fortunate as to receive a Catholic education. I believe it has shaped me to be the person I am , and I would not be where I am without it. Many others have not had the opportunity to go through a Catholic education like me and a truly wish they could share in this wonderful experience too. By going to Catholic school you are not just learning the basic subjects, you have the privilege to learn about your faith too. Our Lady of Hope not only taught me the book definition of what it is to be a Catholic Christian, but they also taught me how to live it too. I know that this will benefit me more than anything else I have learned in my five years at Epiphany, and my five years at Our Lady of Hope. I hope to continue my Catholic education, because I feel as though our faith will never stop growing, and I want to continue to grow spiritually with it. I always have strived for excellence with my grades, and believe that by continuing my Catholic education in high school I will continue too, not just in religion, but in all the subjects, from english, to math, to spanish. I believe that our faith also teaches us to be leaders, and I try to always set a good example with my words and actions. I am student council vice president, cheer captain, a member of the National Junior Honor Society, reading olympics, the volleyball team, the yearbook committee, a mathlete, and a safety. I also dance six hours a week I attend mass every Sunday with my family, and participate in the mass. When I’m not in the pew with my family, it is because I will be taking part even further, by being an altar server. I believe that by …show more content…

Additionally, the scholarship provides a 5,000 dollar four-year renewable scholarship and it will be a great financial assistance towards my tuition to strive for Bachelor’s degree. I need this scholarship to help me fund for my attendance to college. And a good catholic school, over and above this, should help all its students to become saints.” This powerful quote by Pope Benedict XVI really made me reflect on the countless people that throughout my years at St.Didacus have wanted exactly this for me. Not only demonstrated in the school , but the parish community as well. We hear the word “community” so much from preschool to 8th grade, however, not until now do I feel the power of the word.…

We try to go to Mass as often as we can, although sometimes life gets hectic and we cannot go. However, having a positive, Catholic role model in my mom really helps me grasp what it means to be Catholic and to worship God. While I may not agree with some of the tenets of Christianity and Catholicism, my mom explained to me that the worship that takes place within each religion is different for every person, and that whatever lies in my heart is a result of God’s will. That makes sense to me: worshipping a God that supports individual thought and my own interpretations, but still ‘controls’ who I am overall.…
