Why I Want To Come From High School

Improved Essays
Since the age of three I have been actively involved in growing and learning about my faith by taking part in Sunday School and Church every Sunday. I started going to youth group in seventh grade which was a little earlier that our youth group allowed. It was only supposed to be for kids in High School. However, my older sisters were in it, and my best friend was the daughter of the youth leader, so I was invited to join. I loved going and learning about god in a different but fun environment surrounded by my friends.
Joining my church’s youth group opened up a gateway to volunteering, which I have come to love. I love giving back to our community and letting god’s love shine through me while working and volunteering. Every summer my church does an Outreach Work Camp. It is a week-long camp and we do service activities along with team and faith building activities from 8am- 8pm each day. I love the service, and I love growing my relationship with God and surrounding myself with those who are doing the same.

I believe that it is crucial to put as much effort into my education as I can as a High School student to try and set myself up for an easy transition to college. I want to take a class at Lancaster Bible College as a High School junior at Lampeter Strasburg High School. I would like to take part in their Jumpstart program, which allows me to take college classes while I am not quite graduated yet. I have heard from many friends and acquaintances that Lancaster Bible College is a great school with many well educated professors. It also is a great environment to learn which is why I would like to become a student there. I like that Lancaster Bible College is a faith based school. I believe that It will help me grow in my connection with God no matter what class I take

Ever since I was little, I’ve always wanted to help people. Being a Boy Scout gave me the opportunity to do so. When I was eight years old I joined the cub scouts which began my life long campaign of helping people. I started off learning to take the oath to serve the people weather it be by the organization or myself. I assisted by selling popcorn for charity organizations ( The San Antonio Food Bank and The Knights of Columbus) or for money that we needed for our camp out trips.…

In the past few years, I’ve volunteered with a variety of organizations from National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, and Key Club. I have also co-founded a Community Outreach Club at high school. Through the Church I’ve assisted with Vacation Bible School and middle school retreats. One of my favorite memories came from volunteering for the first time with National Spanish Honor Society. Choosing to participate in this program was not a difficult decision, since I knew I wanted to continue practicing my Spanish and volunteer in the community at the same time.…

This summer, I worked as a JCIT at the BSAFE summer program. BSAFE is a summer program for kids from kindergarten to 5th grade, where they are taught school subjects and go on a field trip every day. A JCIT is a junior counselor-in-training, so my job was to assist the leader with the kids and clean and prepare activities for them. JCITs are closer in age to the kids, so they usually confided in us with their questions and concerns. Being a JCIT helped me gain a lot of patience and allowed me to learn to help with things even when I'm not directly asked to do so.…

Oratorical Essay Jesus fed 5,000 people with five loaves and two fish which certainly did serve humanity in the naked eye of anyone. In three books of the Bible, Mathew, Luke and John have the same writings for such an important event in history, not only religion. In those days, it was super hard to stay alive because it was either you worked and saved or supported others or you never worked and didn’t care for others. According to the Good News Bible, it says “He welcomed them, spoke to them about the Kingdom of God and healed those who needed it.” Helping others doesn’t include bragging or wasting the time you have with others to do something else.…

This lead me to the realization that this is how I can serve, by doing the thing that people either could not do, or what they did not want to do. I do not like it either but hopefully through my service they see Jesus in me and will want to do the same. The next mission trip that had the biggest impact was my trip to prison. It was this past February and the scariest experience in my life. Robert held up to his promise and we went into the unit with a group called Diciples4Christ.…
