Why I Want To Become Anesthesiologist

Senior year is the start of many new and exciting experiences. For most, pinpointing one career out of thousands of possibilities can be stressful. However, for myself the choice is clear. My dream is to become an anesthesiologist, and I have developed a plan to help me accomplish my dream. I will be graduating high school in May of 2017 and continuing my education. After much thought and consideration, I have decided to attend Spoon River College in Canton in the fall of 2017. There, I plan to earn my Associates degree. Next, after completing two years at Spoon River College, I will continue to Southern Illinois University to study Biological Sciences for two years. After earning my Bachelor’s degree at SIUE, I plan to attend medical school for four years and get a degree in medicine. Following my graduation of medical school, I will join a residency program lasting a total of four years. Finally, after twelve years of expensive schooling, I will be certified to become an anesthesiologist.

I participated in volleyball, softball, FCCLA, Spanish Club, and was inducted into the National Honor Society. I was a member of girl scouts and 4-H for four years. I also volunteered in the community. I helped at a declamation meet and at junior high volleyball camps. I also volunteered to pump gas at Caseys, planted flowers at my local fire station, and provided care for my neighbor’s house while they were away. I did well academically also, earning a 3.9 GPA and being in the Top 10 of my class. I took many science classes in high school including Biology, Plant and Animal Science, and Chemistry. Additionally, I took college-level courses, dual credit classes, and internet classes to earn credits at Spoon River College and get a head
