Why I Want To Become A Veterinarian

My whole life I have been surrounded by animals of all shapes and sizes, and in a way, each one of them have influenced my decision to pursue a major in pre veterinary studies. My goals include attending the University of Wisconsin: Madison or a different four year college which would then be followed by obtaining my Masters Degree and attending veterinary medic school. Throughout my life, I have shown compassion to struggling animals. When I was younger, a noticeably sick and pregnant cat showed up at my house. She later gave birth, but shortly afterwards got hit by a car. Afterwards, my family and I were able to care for and look after all five kittens until they were clever and old enough to support themselves in the wild. Because of this experience, I learned that I would work towards becoming a veterinarian because of how devoted I am to the well being of animals. …show more content…
Also, I have taken Biology and am now studying anatomy which will provide me with valuable knowledge of how organisms operate. Traits needed to become a veterinarian include good communication skills, being able to show empathy, patience, an exceptional work ethic, and good attention to detail. Pet owner’s emotions become heightened when they discover their pet has an illness or disease, so it is crucial that you are able to understand how they are feeling as you are describing to them the future steps that need to be taken to ensure the health and comfort of their animal.
