My determination towards attending a post-bac program started during the time of my transfer from a college to a university. In order to pursue my career goal as a Physician's Assistant, I would need stellar grades in order to be competitive in this growing field. Unfortunately, there were academic problems in my early college and university years that lowered my GPA and in order to prove myself capable of being a Physician's Assistant, I feel the need to undergo another year of intense studying. With so many healthcare career options out there, one might wonder why I choose to be a Physician Assistant.

Choosing our own elective classes would allow individual students to brush up on weak subjects while staying on track with the program overall. The program will also provide me with Independent Studies classes, which allocate time for me to embark on my own research project. A year of back to back science classes and an independent study project would reinforce my knowledge and make me a more competitive and well-rounded applicant. If given the opportunity, I would enter the program Fall semester of 2017 after I complete the clinical volunteering programs that I am currently partaking in. I have been volunteering at various hospitals in order to gain clinical experience in the health care field. These experiences allow me to gain patience and take initiative in stressful and non-stressful situations. I often have direct contact such as feeding, cleaning, and moving the patients. I also get to observe many medical procedures under the guidance of the nurses. The most memorable experience was when I perform CPR on a patient who was undergoing cardiac arrest. It was surreal and chaotic knowing that I am a part of something that could determine a real person survival. Experiencing a medical emergency on a real time basis allowed me to understand the implication of my role and the part I will play in my future
