Why I Want To Become A Creator

Improved Essays
We have the power to create a positive mindset. We can choose if we want to be a Creator or if we want to be a Victim. According to Dr. Skip Downing, Creators are people who understand that they oversee an outcome they get in life by choosing behaviors and thoughts that result in the success that they wish to receive. Victims are people who don’t think that they have control. They tend to respond to things rather than creating their own results. I have lived most my life as a Victim, it became extremely exhausting. Today I am working on becoming a Creator; I have set goals and will not be satisfied unless they are achieved.
In an article, in his teaching blog, Prof David Mirman displays a scenario of how college students were giving an ample amount of time to get the materials they needed for a class. One as a Creator and one being a Victim. The instructor had asked the students if they had had their textbooks they needed by the second week of class and the students had replied with different answers. One student had blamed the bookstore for running out of copies and

Today I can say I am a working on becoming a Creator. It took me a long time to be at the point; where I was tired of being a Victim. I want more from life. Being a Victim is taking the easy road and being a Creator is a much more challenging. I have goals and my goals have goals. I must do something every day that will bring me one step closer to what I am trying to achieve even if I don’t want to do it I must force myself. My current goal is to learn from my classes and retain information that I can use for furthering my degree in Social Science. In my personal life, I have been working on creating a happier healthier Jessica for the nine months and will continue. I will do anything it takes to achieve my goals. I want to help other people that feel hopeless and show them a different way of life. It all starts with a Creator

In the essay “The Dog Ate My Disk, an Other Tales of Woe” Professor Carolyn Foster Segal explains that even after lengthy syllabus warnings and a humorous cartoon of a cat explaining to its teacher that a dog ate its homework, students still came up with multiple excuses for being tardy, absent or turning in assigned work late. She categorized the excuses into these five categories, the family, the best friend, the evils in dorm life, the evils in technology, and the totally bizarre. For family, Segal points out that “The death of the grandfather/grandmother is, of course, the grandmother of all excuses” (565). Students will use that excuse all the time because the teacher will probably show pity for them in their sorrow. Demonstrating…

This letter is a formal appeal to you for assistance with the tuition fees for continuing my education. I had to suspend my education at HBU (Houston Baptist University) because of the increment in tuition fee; I came from a family with no savings, my mother was a single mother (61 years old going to 62) who raised me in a low-income apartment life, no education nor funds for her ending years. HBU (Houston Baptist University) recently funded a football team in which they did well for their first year, and I believe this is the more reason the tuition fee was increased; I am not an athlete, but it is my wish that my dream of going to school come true. I am currently working but having my dream job will set my life in order forever for I am about entering into a new chapter of my life.…

The biggest change I have made this semester is taking on a creator mindset/attitude. You could ask anyone that knows me and they would say I have a pessimistic attitude. I would always joke and say I’m a pessimist because I’m either right or I’m pleasantly surprised. Simple having the negative thoughts floating around in my head constantly has certainly been a dead weight holding me down.…

Yesterday, I felt like dying. I wasn’t going to actually give in, but I feel stuck between two worlds and the pressure of pleasing both is weighing down on me, personal and societal obligations not yet met. I suppose that’s why I connect to Asher Lev, a jewish boy conflicted on pursuing what he loves at the expense of his religious beliefs, or satisfying his family at the liability of his own happiness. I think everyone goes through a period of depression where nothing seems to make sense and the thought of the future is a gloomy prospect, especially innovative creators. I’m not saying I lack the energy or will to pursue an ambitious life, I am passionate about learning and creating just as Asher Lev was, but right now I need to find myself, explore what it means to have an identity, and I think that’s what Asher’s story is about.…

Naturally, when trying to understand the construct of a person we observe their environment, as well as which of their characteristics are directly from nature, and those which have been nurtured. Characteristics from nature are those you're born with and already manipulate your attitude and perceptions in some way. An example, I was born with asthma. My asthma made me very sympathetic towards others when certain tasks were difficult for them, because I knew what it was like to have difficulties in athletic areas.…

I have been an artist almost all my life and more recently I have become a serious and driven academic as well. When I was a little girl I dreamed of becoming many things: a chef, a teacher, and a librarian among the lengthy list. Becoming a leading contemporary art practitioner and researcher in a world that is more connected than ever, however, had no place in the dreams of that little girl. Instead, it was an ambition released by a woman halfway through the second year of her Bachelors when she realised that there is more to art than pretty pictures and that there is more to herself than mediocrity. Golden Key values academics, leadership, and service, and implores their members to live up to these standards daily.…
