Why I should be in National Honor Society

I am very honored to be even considered to be in National Honor Society. This has been a dream of mine since 8th grade. This shows that hard work does pay off. So I hope that my reason for believing why I belong in National Honor Society are enough to believe that also.

One of these reasons being that I have a lot of character. An example of this is that did dance classes for 10 years before hurting my ankle. In these classes you had to be able to take the teachers criticism and use it to get better at the dance. Every time she would criticize me I would go home and work at that one move until I could perfect it. After had done this I would thank her for helping me get better at the thing I could not do. This helped me to learn that the teachers and mentors who criticize you are just trying to help you.

Me doing dance for 10 years also helps to show that I am determined to continue no matter what. I also show signs of character by the way I act every day to people. When I see someone is upset I will try my hardest to cheer them up. And when someone new comes to the school I make it my number one priority to say “Hello”. If I don’t I end up feeling really bad for not saying hello because that can make a person’s day in my opinion. I also try to compliment people because I know it makes people feel good, and I love knowing that I made somebody feel special that day. Another reason I show character is that I show respect for everything that I come in contact with. If that is my sisters shirt or a book borrowed from the library. I also never break the rules. If I do I feel like a horrible person after and I never do it again. For example, I was late to class once because I was not in enough of a hurry to get there. I was like half a second late and from that day and it made feel like I was a criminal and from that day forward I made sure to get to my classes as fast as I could without running in the hallway. These are only a few reasons why I show character. On top of character I show determination. An example of this is that in my 9th grade I applied to the STEM program through the navy. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and math. I was not accepted into it because they wanted to see me push myself. So that is what I did. I joined all honors classes and worked hard. When it came time for the applications again I applied yet again. The difference though is that I was accepted to go this year. I am very excited to be a part of this program so I can further my knowledge in the world. I feel that determination is a good virtue to have in the world because it makes life more fun when you don’t give up when things get difficult. While I show character and determination I also show leadership. Again I will bring dance into this. For my last few years of dance we did something called the Plattsburgh Rockets. This is like the rockets in the Macy’s Day Parade, but we are not able to kick as high. This s important because with me being the tallest in my class I had to lead and had to follow the beat to know when to start. This made me a leader of the dance. Though not important to many this was very important to me because this was a big responsibility for me to carry. If I started to soon the whole dance would be off and if I stared too late it would also be off. I aced it every time and the dance was amazing. I also show leadership by helping whenever is needed. Whether it is me getting art supplies for my table and making sure it is all cleaned up after we are done or if it is helping a younger student on her Spanish homework that she did not understand. I show leadership also by being a class officer in 9th grade. While I

Communication is of essential importance in any workplace, relationship, and gathering, which creates efficient leadership within a group. Towards the closing of my junior year, I was elected to be one of the few student board members to my school’s National Honor Society. Achieving board member status for this renowned society of students is an eye-opening experience. Adapting to the responsibility that a highly respected board member carries of such a prestigious group truly distinguishes differences between the ordinary member and those who collectively lead the organization. From coordinating induction ceremonies for incoming members, to communicating with local providers for community service events, being a representative of…

As I write the reason why I should be considered or labeled as a National Honor Society member, I would like to start to define what a “Pillar” is, according to the article published on July 11, 2023 by Aerialm BVI: “The Pillars of life are foundational areas of aspects of one’s life, each of which plays a critical role in personal development.” In my few developmental years as a Junior in high school, I must say that character is developed by a set of principles, ethical standards, and moral qualities. In other words, do the right thing always, as I have been doing since I started school. I have learned to know what is right and wrong through normal observations and paying attention to others. I could have chosen to take regular classes and taken the easy way out.…

It seems logical to conclude that due to dance teachers and their students interacting at the micro level of society, they are known to have one of the most significant impacts on a dancer's life. To validate this perspective, I observed the infamous dance teacher Abby Lee Miller during Dance Moms Season One to see how she influenced her highly impressionable young dancers. Miller has a very opinionated view of her dancers performances. Second place is not an option! This places an extreme amount of pressure on her dancers to be perfect.…
