I want to be in Honors English to further my education and become a better student. Getting into this class is important to me because I want to learn as much as possible while in high school, and getting into an honors class will help me achieve that goal. If I get accepted into Honors, I will dedicate myself to studying, doing my work, and helping my peers. I will achieve my goals by pushing myself out of my comfort zone, working hard, and putting my work before everything else. My main goal in high school is to get above a 4.0 GPA in all four years of high school. I will only reach this goal if I get all A’s in my classes, and it is important to me to get excellent grades in English. I have had to work hard to excel in the class; consequently, for this reason, I enjoy this class. English has never been my strongest subject, but I always enjoyed reading novels. We have yet to read any novels; however, I look forward to getting the chance to read our first book in class. My favorite short story that we read in Mr. Gish’s class was Scarlet Ibis. I liked it because it had a lot of symbolism, with the scarlet ibis, doodle, and old woman swamp. The story had a lot to read between the lines and a lot to understand with the symbolism. I also enjoyed the mind map project that went along with “Scarlet Ibis” because of the organization portion, and we got to dive deep into each symbol. College is something in my future. I want to go to college on a scholarship, and Honors English will prepare me for college academically and show me what college classes will look like. I am certain I will study something in the medical field in college. Even though being a doctor is not in the field of English, I realize that for my career I will use English and that having good grammar will help me in my professional
