Why I Want To Be An Optician

Going to New York City of technology for a few years now, I started in 2013 I didn’t really know what major I really wanted to be in. I first thought I was going to do nursing or rad tech but the more I learned about the majors I was not really interested in them. Some of the duties you had to do especially for nursing really pushed me away from the major. So I recently became undecided in what I wanted to do. Out of nowhere I found out about Vision Care. I didn’t even know about this department in the school and I been in this school for a while. The major really caught my eye because my mother is always in what I use to called the eye doctors office, now I know that she is going to an optometrist and an ophthalmologist. Also I really do not know how passionate I am about the profession so far because all of this is completely new to me. I may not want to purse more than just to be an Optician. So far I really enjoy the stuff I am learning so as of now yes I think I would like to become more than just an Optician, but like I said I do not really know what the future has in store for me. I learned that Dispensing Opticians should possess certain qualities to become successful while in class. One is they need to love to work with people. As an Optician you are going to be around people a lot. Weather It is around your employers/Co-workers or the customers. You cannot hate to be around people in be an Optician because you are going to have a hard time doing your job. You need to respect your employers/Co-workers and your boss if you have one and lastly and most importantly the customers. You not just showing them respect to just get respect back.
