I worked with students with disabilities (age 14-18) in Milton Keynes College. Some of them had difficulty with their spelling and grammar. So, I supported them with their learning and helped them with their English. I communicated effectively with the students. One of the students has dyslexia and she needed to revise for her exam. She had hard time to focus and she believed she will not pass the exam. So, I advised her to highlight important sentences and try to memorise them. This has benefited her and she felt much confident that she could achieve her exam. I gained interpersonal skills and confidence while working with the students. I demonstrated listening skills and listen to their thoughts and ideas which allowed them to express themselves more. These skills are important for every professional healthcare including ODP. However, working in nursery was slightly different; I had to supervise children (age 18months-5) all the time. They needed personal care such as feeding, dressing them and making sure their hands are washed. Also, I organised and planned an activity for them while working alongside with the
