Why Alpha?
Hundreds maybe even thousands of men each day attempt to gain access into the prestigious organization of Alpha phi Alpha. Around twenty of those men attempt to join the Theta Rho Chapter, each with his own personal reasons. Some of my reasons for wanting to become a member of the Theta Rho Chapter may sound the similar to other individuals ,but I can guarantee they have a deeper meaning. I would like to become an Alpha because it gives me the opportunity to know what true commitment and manhood is all about. Although I have two brothers and one sister none of them grew up with me and understand what it took for me to become a man with no father figure. I’ve had to find my way to manhood on my own, with all respect to my mother a woman cannot raise a young man. From what I have studied and been informed about there is more behind the scene work than what non-Alpha men get to see. The commitment that I see the Theta Rho brothers put towards helping children and the homeless is something i would like to be apart of. I see the brother put tons of work into helping the community and twice as much into helping each other which leads me to my second reason, the brotherhood.

Even outside of the chapter to be a part of an organization of African American males who can come together and support each other is something I would like to become a part of. I would like to also be able to trust and rely on another person the way Alpha men trust each other. The way Theta Rho Chapter brother return back to VCU like they never left no matter what year they are from is a bond I would like to share as

When I was first introduced to Lambda Theta Phi Latino Fraternity Inc., certain aspects of the organization caught my attention. First and foremost, the organization promotes unity within the Latino community. Being united as Latinos is essential because together we acquire great accomplishments for the betterment of the community as well as ourselves. Moreover, being united provides the opportunity to demonstrate our capabilities as Latinos and break the barriers society has imposed upon us. For me, being able to interact with Latinos at UNCG, through this organization, and having the opportunity to meet individuals who demonstrate valuable character is of great importance.…

Also they were one of the only organizations on campus that actually engaged with the students and held social gatherings for student life and engagement. Becoming a man of Alpha will not only be one of my greatest accomplishments so far but it will be something that people will be proud…

The dynamic between the two is something I’ve always wanted to understand better, and something I enjoy participating in very much. I was inspired to this passion by my experiences in Scouting and Civil Air Patrol, particularly by my scout master and Deputy Commander for Cadets. Both were outstanding leaders who helped me develop into who I am today.…
