Veterinarians are the only doctors in the world who get to study both humans and animals. History has shown that veterinarians have played very important roles in helping humans with health issues. Animals have always been far more interesting than human beings. They provide a greater emotional support to humans than another human would. They are also extremely important because they provide assistance to the environment. Being a Veterinarian would be a dream come true. I would have the ability to work with animals and help them everyday. Seeing animals sick or injured breaks my heart, which is why I would like to be the one who saves and cures them. It is a veterinarians job to treat diseased or injured animals. Veterinarians care for and work to improve the health of animals. They diagnose, treat, and research diseases and medical conditions of all types of animals. I would enjoy learning about animals and treating them. The founding of the veterinary school in Lyon, France in 1761 was the start of the veterinary profession and a professional group dedicated to animal medicine. Formerly, the veterinary profession was focused on the horse for many years. However, over time the profession expanded to cattle, livestock, then to dogs and currently to companion and exotic animals. In the 1880’s the first anthrax and rabies …show more content…
The University of California, Davis was ranked number one for Veterinary Medicine. UC Davis cares for many animals each year at their teaching hospital. Cornell University is also a high ranked school when it comes to Veterinary Medicine, it features the Cornell University Hospital for Animals. Another great school for aspiring vets would be Colorado State University. The program at CSU contains an orthopedic research center, one of the largest animal cancer centers and a diagnostic medicine program that is a member of a nationwide system that monitors for emerging infectious
