G.K Chesterton once said "A true soldier fights not because he hates whar is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him." This quote really shows a true understanding of the hearts of our troops. Our veterans sacrifice themselves and their world constantly. They always show amazing courage protecting the United States of America, the people who live there, and the values the U.S.A holds dear. I am eternally thankful to all of our veterans and those who are currently in war.
Veterans give up many things for us. They give up their personal life, mental or physical health, and sometimes their job and family. They know that there is no promise they will come back home whole or alive, but they go to war for the country they love. It takes enormous amounts of patriotism and love to make a sacrifice like becoming a soldier for your country. We can worship whoever we want and go to church, and we can speak our mind and opinions as long as it does notharm anyone. Women can have any jobs and go to school, and we can be free to be ourselves as a society. On the other hand, we must remember our responsibilities as Americans and Christians. Just because we can do something doesn't mean we should. It is our duty to use freedom wisely to help others and the world. We also need to use our freedoms to give back to our soldiers and this is how I do it. I volunteer at GaitWay, a non-profit organization that helps mentally and physically disabled people, no matter the age, in place of less engaging and therapeutic physical therapy. I have over 50 ours of volunteer service hours there, and it is my way of helping the
