As a Teaching Assistant, I believe there are two main goals that must be accomplished: keeping my own integrity and credibility in tact at all times and doing my best to assist students in their learning and studying. One’s integrity comes before learning because it is a virtue that take time to earn and can be diminished in seconds. I believe that as a Teaching Assistant, before I assist in learning, I must establish my own integrity to my students and relay to no-tolerance policy of dishonesty and cheating. Secondly, it is a teacher’s responsibility to assist their students in learning the best way possible. A teacher needs patience and diligence in order to help their students grow in their learning. Whether it is extra office hours or creating extra practice problems, it is a teacher’s duty to effectively aid each student in grasping concepts and clearing any confusion within the material of the course.

If I get a Teaching Assistant position, I will not have any other work or club commitments. My first priorities will be my grades and studies and my second priority would be my Teaching Assistant position. I have a lighter course load next semester; therefore I will be able to devote less time to my studies and more time to the position. I plan on reading my email first thing every day to ensure I answer my student’s questions as soon as possible. I always be present at my office hours and will plan extra hours ever week for the students that may have conflicts with my office hours.
