As a practitioner-scholar, I want to work with children and adolescents to make a difference in their lives. It is important job to take own and I believe this my purpose.
My purpose is to work with children and adolescence to provide enrichment to their development. I believe that through my works with, I will promote growth and fulfillment in social, emotional, physical, and educational aspects of their lives. I want to impact mostly in the schools. I feel that schools are a vital part of development for adolescence. A school environment would be the best place for me to work hands on with this demographic and challenge them in the way that they should be challenged. The upcoming generations will be our future leaders, and it is up to the present generation to help guide them into positive path. My purpose is to be a positive influence through my professional work.

I know that through my works I will make an impact on the families of these children as well. A school setting is where I would like to practice psychology the most. However, my experience in a mental health setting would also be a choice of setting. Child development would be an important specialization in psychology to have going in to working with children. Education is an important factor to me, understanding a child’s development will provide for effective learning and education (http://www.simplypsychology.org/developmental-psychology.html). Other areas of specialization would include clinical psychology, continuing to work as a mental health professional.
