As a young girl she would read me her medical books and it had an impact on who I wanted to become. The more ideal career path for me and my future is to become a nurse practitioner because there is a variety of medical procedures to perform, I can cooperate with people of all ages and different backgrounds , and I can pursue my job anywhere I would like in the United States.
Nurse practitioners perform many different variations of medical services. “NPs provide a full range of primary, acute, and specialty health care services” ("What’s an NP?”). I have always loved being able to do more than one thing at once. A nurse practitioner is more than just a normal nurse. You must learn to cooperate with all different types of people and the ages they come with. In this field of work I will come across people with different ages, races, backgrounds, and cultures. “Specialty areas include: Adult Health, Family Health, Neonatal Health, Pediatric /Child Health” (“What’s an NP?”). I have always accepted, respected, and cared for someone no matter how they look, how old they are, or where they come from. This quality that I have is perfect for the job.
I have always contemplated where I want to go when I am finally done with school and ready to start my career. I love my home state of Texas, but there is so much more out there in the World. “NPs are licensed in all states and the District of Columbia, and practice under the rules and regulations of the state in which they are licensed” (“What’s an NP?”). This is a great part of the job because I can go wherever I want in the United States and still do what I love every
