Why I Want To Be A Good Business Coach

Decent Essays
The perfect job for me would be business coaching. I enjoy working with people who have a passion for what they do coupled with a clear understanding of what is needed to achieve it.

I possess the skills that a good business coach must have. One of the skill's is, creating guidelines for clients to follow and holding them accountable to those guidelines. Another key attribute is being able to ask the hard questions and leading the client to finding the answer within. You must be inspirational, yet realistic, nice, yet tough, empathetic, yet help them to overcome. You must be a people person but not care too much about being so nice that they are not growing from the experience.

I enjoy the psychology that goes into business coaching

As a career mentor, my primary duties are to help students with resume/cover letters, job/internship search and just general life goals questions. This internship has made realize why I love working with students. It’s such a great feeling when a student comes and they may be confused about their major or how to make a resume for a job; but by the end of the your time with them, you just see this light bulb go off in their head and they have this look of “I understand”. Even though it may be a very small interaction, I feel like I have made a small difference in their lives and I have helped them somehow.…

Beginning with the premise that clients have “strength and capability, not weakness, helplessness, or dependence [and] a deep desire to give the best and achieve potential,” (Kimsey-House, Kimsey-House, Sandahl, & Whitworth, 2011, p. 7), coaching is analogous to the Paraclete who walks alongside another, inspiring, motivating (John 14:26, ESV), bringing out the intelligence (Proverbs 2:6-7, NIV) and capacity of the client to solve their own problems (ICF, n.d.). The CCNI (2014) takes the definition one step further and incorporates a perspective based upon a biblical worldview, which offers moral direction and guidance. The co-active coaching model, which is conversation based upon respect, openness, compassion, empathy, and a rigorous commitment…
