Why I Want To Be A Counselor Research Paper

The reason why I want to be a counselor is to help people to have a better understanding of mental illness. And educated those who does not have mental illness to have a better understand of the illness. As for those who have mental illness needs to know that they are not alone. Because there are so many stigmas that are around and with mental illness. Especially among my culture mental health illness is a taboo and no one want to associate with the person who have mental illness or the person family. They are look down on and mistreated because of their illness. In the past before I had any knowledge about mental illness, I myself too had view mental illness as something or someone who are a dangerous person that I should not associates with. I was once use to label a person who have mental illness a person who are psychotic. …show more content…
I would like to travel over sea and work with patients in a remote area where I can help educated and assist them with their mental illness. Being a biliaugh person I can help target Cambodia population and help educated them to have a better understanding of mental illness. Being Cambodia myself I would have a better understanding of the cultural and able to speak language. So this way the client can trust and be more open to the treatment. As for my strengths I have to say that I never like to give up on anyone or anything once I have made up my mind. And for my weakest I have to say that I feel guilty or bad about things if I can’t help. Other word I would go extra mile to help my clients and if its fail I blame myself. I know that this is not a good thing especially knowing that I did my best. I am now trying to working on
