Leaders are not born but made is a motto that I like to live my life by. Every day of our lives we are given opportunities to rise up and better ourselves through leading others. A way I have been taught to be a leader this year is through a program at my school Edmond Memorial called Bulldog Mentors. Any junior or senior may sign up and donate their free time to mentor a group of freshmen at our school; we are given lessons most Fridays and we teach the underclassman instructions to help lessen their burdens for the rest of their high school years. The mentors may implement their own ideas or follow the lesson plan in teaching their students ways to be more considerate of others, to be motivated by goals, and to be more academically involved. …show more content…
I have been able to advise them in their questions and curiosities. This program teaches me to be patience and mindful of my students; indeed, Bulldog Mentors has played a key role in my leadership skills by helping me be more active and encouraging towards my shy group. This opportunity has given me more values and incentives to do more in my community and my school. I want a career where I may advance my status and help others achieve their goals. I strive to be the most influential person I can be to others and that’s why being a leader is important to me. To me a person who is a leader leads by example. Ever since I was in middle school I have tried to always do the right thing and guide my peers into a direction that is best for them. Since coming to Woodberry my Freshman year I feel as though I have grown stronger in this trait. One example that stands out particularly is when I was on the Bengal football team, and it was a scorching day early on in the year. It seemed as though everybody had a terrible day, and it was looking like we were having a horrible practice.…

Something that makes a leader is seen in all of us. Leadership skills don’t only consist on how courageous or strong you are. Being a leader is more about your commitment, passion, and trustworthiness. Leaders have been seen all over the era of slavery by many slave abolitionists that have put their mind to something and changed America as we know it. People like Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass, and President Lincoln have all took the liberty of trying to make America a better place and after many hardships we have finally achieved a goal.…

When I look back on how I became the person that I am today, I think of all the people, activities, and opportunities that molded me and helped me become successful leader. One activity in my community that has really helped me develop into a leader was when we held our youth basketball clinics each year. These clinics were every Saturday from 8am to noon for two months during the school year. The high school basketball players helped run the clinics, but it was not mandatory for us to go. I went to all of these clinics because I found out just how important it was to give back to the community which had gave so much to me.…

My leadership philosophy is one that is rooted in the strong belief that it must be a continuous quest to motivate all students to become critical thinkers, effective communicators, and lifelong learners, while possessing outstanding character. This includes assisting students with discovering their talents and interests, therefore developing a love of learning, while developing into ethical, productive citizens. Accomplishing this requires a leader who is knowledgeable in pedagogy and curriculum, including the use of data and current assessments to enhance instruction, and who possesses outstanding communication skills, the ability to manage an operation’s resources effectively, promotes collaboration and teamwork, and is passionate and committed to helping students learn. I believe that my interpersonal skills will be my biggest strength as an educational leader. Through frequent, honest communication, and my enthusiasm for the subject, I will demonstrate understanding and compassion for those around me, therefore building trusting relationships.…

For a normal person, being in a leadership position can sometimes be too hard, complicated, and stressful if they are not dedicated or prepared. Each of these factors can discourage many people, people who have the potential but not the training or motivation to hold a position of leadership. I, however, believe that I have the potential, the training, and the motivation to do something amazing as the VP of District Four. The Accidental Leader: What to Do When You’re Suddenly in Charge Being a leader can happen to any one of us at any time. When we are given the role of being a leader it often paints a different image of what we look like to others based on the fact that we are in charge.
