I’m Alexandra (Allie) Drew, a current 2nd year nursing and midwifery student. I am applying for the 3rd year nursing second semester 2016 exchange to Malmo University in Sweden. I’m very excited to have the opportunity to apply for this exchange and, in fact, this opportunity is one of the reasons I chose La Trobe University to undertake my degrees. I have a passion and curiosity in life for travel and I have chosen a career which would not only offer me the opportunity to study, research and help people with health care but also allow me to travel and work around the world. I have traveled both in Australia and overseas with and without my family and am confident of adapting to studying and living overseas.

To participate in university life overseas would allow me to learn about another culture and meet new people. I believe I would be a worthy ambassador for La Trobe University and Australia as I am a happy, friendly, trustworthy, independent, confident and engaged person. I know I would completely involve myself in student social life, as I have done here at La Trobe University. I am currently the Australian College of Midwives (ACM) Student Representative for Victoria. In this role, I have regular meetings with the other ACM representatives. At La Trobe University, I am also the president of the Nursing and Midwifery Student Association and through this I represent our students on the Education Council and SHE Student Reference Group. I would be so interested to engage with the Malmo University students and representative groups and use this as an opportunity to help me contribute in the roles I already undertake as a student representative at La …show more content…
I have found the academic life at La Trobe University really suits me and I am determined to complete post-graduate qualifications and am very interested in research. I would love to have the opportunity of being part of university life in Malmo University. I see this exchange to Sweden as offering the opportunity to make connections with the university and to explore my future options. Undertaking placements in the Swedish health care system would give me an insight into other world-leading health care systems other than the Australian model and hopefully this would contribute to making me a more rounded and educated nurse/midwife/academic. I would like to potentially integrate practices from Sweden if their concepts fit in with the Australian nursing systems and
