From the start I never really liked school at all. I mean from what I can recall, I would always hide in the slide at PreSchool and tried to stay hidden until my mom came to finally pick me up. That changed when I entered Elementary school and opened up a little to my other classmates. I would actually play and be friends with them and never stray away. There were rough times in my life that I found hard to adjust to.…

“They say that college is where you find yourself, but I feel more lost than ever.” Although this may be true, I began to think I was looking for something to blame. This quote replayed in my head, as I walked out of the counselor's office with both my parents along my side as I felt the vibe of their uncertainty with my decision to go back. Before it gets good, it gets more boring. Summer had started and it’s been a year since I’ve been to college.…

I am choosing to attend Indiana University Southeast, because this offers the best opportunity based on my carrier interest and my financial situation. My mother is the only member of my family to attend college, and she only obtained her associates degree. This means I will be the first member of my family to graduate with a bachelors degree.…

When I first made my college decision, I applied to many different types of schools. I had been at the same small middle/high school for six years and was not sure what I wanted in a school. At first, I wanted a big, diverse school where I could become involved in clubs while I advanced further in my academic career. I ended up deciding on a small college named Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences because I was nervous about knowing classmates and making friends in a big school since I had been in a small school for so long. I decided to pursue an advanced Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD.) degree because I had always enjoyed the sciences and thought it would be a good major since I could help people while using science.…

Why I Dislike School School has not always been something that I hate. As I’m sure is remembered, I used to not want to leave school, and looked forward to going in the morning. This is obviously not true anymore, for a multitude of reasons. School, specifically Jones and 12-14, is very different from how I grew up having school, from levels 3-6 to 9-12.…

Mr. Holmes bounced around the front of the theatre classroom as dozens of keys jingled from his belt loop, eagerly pointing to the whiteboard filled with exclamatory phrases written in capital letters such as “Project!” “Create!” and “Yes! Due to my area of residence I got lucky in being able to attend the high school I go to now. If I had gone to a different school, not only would I lose all of the experiences that I’ve built, but also miss out on the opportunities to take the advanced placement courses that I have been preparing for and enrolled in since sixth grade. Almost nowhere else would I be surrounded by such diversity and be given a highly ranked education. Every time there is a new lesson to learn in class I am sure to have paper and a pencil ready to indulge myself into the world of academics. Although it is hard to get a new club formed at my high school, many of us strive to join smaller groups with friends to improve our knowledge in the different fields, one…

The school was a new world to me. I remember standing in front of the class room waiting for the teacher when a student started smoking in front of teachers and supervisors. Everything I knew about school was different. Students offered all sources of drugs and alcohol, and many classmates have to drop off for having “too much fun”, but that wasn’t my case. I knew who I was and why I was in school…

When I applied to college my senior year, I was hopeful that I would be able to have the opportunity to pick college that I wanted to attend, but I was realistic knowing that my options would be limited. I adore researching, discovering, critically thinking, studying diverse topics, exposing my thoughts to something different. When I say I hate school, I'm saying that I cannot bare the ignorant and selfish people that walk the halls with me everyday. It means I hate going home, feeling so mentally exhausted that I want to faint, or fall into an internal sleep. I'm emotionally falling apart because of high expectations and physically breaking down because of stress. I hate being treated like a toddler, when the whole purpose of high school is to shape me into a well-rounded competent adult.…
