When I first heard about CTE and its Computer Animation and Web Design program, I was skeptical of whether or not I should apply. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go to a completely different school, with completely different people. I didn’t want to leave my friends behind and the people I knew, but I wanted to make a path for my career. I wasn’t even sure if CAWD had what I wanted for a career choice, but I decided to go anyway, and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. For the first time I was excited to wake up and go to school. As soon as we started the game design projects, I knew that I wanted to Design Games for my career. This program revealed to me what I wanted to do for my career, and I now have a path in mind for my future. I intend to apply to …show more content…
After that feeling, you want to do more to help others, and after that even more to help. The feeling of that is why I enjoy participating in Community Service. On the community service day at CTE we had elderly come in with old and damaged photos that we repaired for them digitally in photoshop. We would restore the original and repair things like rips, scratches, and smudges. Afterwards, we would email them the digitally repaired image. I also participated in the Penguin Plunge at CVU High School during freshman year. This was a fundraiser for the Special Olympics where you would collect donations for the organization, and jump into Lake Champlain in February. Likewise, a few years back I participated in an organization called Feed My Starving Children. This organization brings nutrient-rich meals to the families of developing countries. My family and I went to a school gym, where we prepared and packed up the food packs that were being sent off to the developing countries. Community Service has played an important role in my life and has given me the value of knowing that I did something good to help someone

I was able to volunteer at a local bank that was sponsoring the Lake Park Elementary School for the holiday season. The school has over 300 underprivileged students between the ages of kindergarten and fifth grade. Most of the students at that school only have one meal per day. Along with other volunteers, I packaged bags that contained candy, toys, toiletries, a blanket, and a pair of athletic shoes. The bags were able to provide the children with goods that we often take for granted.…

I have completed many hours of community service and I believe that it is my responsibility to involve myself in my community in any way possible. Getting involved in the community helps build a strong character and it teaches certain values that will benefit other communities. Speaking of community improvement, it is also my responsibility to pay any taxes set for me by our state and federal governments. Without taxpayer money, it would be impossible to maintain many of our most precious and crucial government funded organizations. If the American people allowed those organizations to fade away, we would be hurting our country and helping ourselves.…

Many of these experiences generally go unrewarded which make an individual question why. Questioning why they spent their own personal time to do extra.
