Upon my arrival at Commonwealth Honors Academy a mere twelve days ago I was ignorant to the fact that I was going to learn so much in my time spent here, but now I look back and realize that I have gained so much knowledge and I have acquired more details to add to what I knew before arrival. Overall I have learned that most things in life require constant attention and effort to make them truly work and that anyone you come in contact with and create an influence with will then, in turn, make a larger circle of influence that can quickly become bigger than you can ever be. The universal themes that have had the largest impact on me are the themes of Happiness, Friendship, and Sovereignty of Education. It was Aristotle who defined happiness…

Young adults tend to obtain a job, and in countless ways succor the family with food, bills, the house, and many other necessities. My parents grew up in Central America, within a poor environment, with lack of clean water, insufficient clothing and a scarce amount of money. Consequently my parents had to withdraw from studying. The experience of living on the edge of absolute poverty influenced my parents to secure the future of their children, with any sacrifice.…

I believe the quality of education I would receive in Georgetown University will be outstanding because of its diverse academic course offering such as interdisciplinary classes like Race, Law and Literature. Connecting literature to life outside school is important as it exposes me to different cultures, experiences and point of views that will make me a well- rounded person. I’m interested in studying English, and being in the capital with its rich history and with resources like the Smithsonian museum and the Library of Congress just minutes away from campus excites and motivates me to learn and take advantage of these sources. Accessible location in the capital will also lead me to numerous great internship opportunities that will help…

(1). Although I may not have the strongest GPA among my peers, I consider myself to be an active member in my community. Compared to my affluent friends in college, I was born and raised in a low-income community on the East Side of San Jose. Additionally, my family 's social-economical background placed us at a disadvantage due to the fact in which my parents were not able to afford to pay for certain academic luxuries that my peers have had (private tutors, extracurricular academic activities, summer science camps, etc). However, I was fortunate to have been placed in charter schools for the most part of my K-12 education.…

Thinking back to the beginning of the semester when we read “Competing on Analytics” I think that your value chain is really established from your competitive distinction. These days higher education is in a tough spot because you can virtually go to school anywhere and everywhere in the world. With the advances in technology and what is available, what a student needed to be in class for twenty years ago, they can now watch a recording or participate online. All colleges and Universities are providing the same thing to students, and that is knowledge, at least one can hope. Saint Joseph’s mission and selling point to a lot of students can be described in our mission statement “As Philadelphia’s Jesuit Catholic University, Saint Joseph’s provides a rigorous, student-centered education rooted in the liberal arts.…

I am a person who believes that hard work gets you far in life. At fourteen years of age I was employed at the Papertown Dairy Bar, which I have worked at for almost four years. During these four years I have learned to balance my money, buying myself a car and keeping up with any bills that the car may bring. Working at the young age of fourteen and throughout my High School Career has taught me valuable lessons on time management on how to balance a working life, sports, academics and social life, which I would use to my full benefit while attending Penn State. My valuable time management skills would allow me just not to attend Penn State but to thrive at Penn State, immersing myself in organizations, schoolwide events, and my studies.…

American University is a well known college, a college that is known for promoting international understanding, faculty research, and the presence of world leaders on their campus. WHY I WANT TO JOIN THE HONORS PROGRAM Alighting from a Boeing 747 jetliner on the JFK tarmac on Thursday evening, April 28, 2016, I walked into what could be called a new page in my life story—a new start. That was my first time on this side of the hemisphere. With little money, zero friends, one close relative and little to hold on to, I found myself leaning on only a thread of asset – my mind. Knowing this, I vowed to keep this God given asset alive and growing with all my soul and might, and what better way to do this than to identify with people of like passion, people who will add to me.…
