Personal Statement: Why I Want To Go To College

Improved Essays
Why do I want to go to college? I don’t want to go to college, I need to go to college! I crave it, the knowledge, wisdom, and experience I need that. College is the next step I must take to launch myself into my future, and set me up to achieve my highest goals! Education comes first, and the hardships I’ll suffer, the prosperity I’ll rejoice in, those are the things that come with my education and I’m prepared! College will give me the knowledge, wisdom, and experience that I wish to obtain; no matter what happens I will get there.
Leadership, we all know what that is! Or do we? Leadership has a different definition to each and every person, in my retrospect, leadership is what I can do first. Of course, by that I mean leadership is what

At school, work, and home I lead my classmates, my co-workers, and my siblings. A perfect example of my leadership skills is the story about the time I ran across a very large problem at work: I work at Rezac’s café in Weston, NE. It was father’s day, I hadn’t had much training, but they needed extra help for the big rush about to flow through the front doors. The day began…crowds flooded the café and orders began piling up! Everyone was in a panic! I stood up and started making the orders; read the ticket, make the order, slide the ticket off to the side. It was rather simple really but in a crisis it’s hard to think and do. After completing 5 orders I looked back to the rest of the team and they stepped up and followed right behind me! I felt so proud of myself and my co-workers we did it! I enjoy taking initiative, solving problems, and watching those that follow in my steps do so with …show more content…
It took a lot of work, I had to convince my principal that I had what it took in order for him to even consider me a worthy candidate. I did my best and got exactly what I wanted to hear, I was a candidate for early graduation! My principal gave me many tasks; I was given the responsibility of writing my own recommendation letter to the David City Public School’s board of education. I had to explain why I deserved to graduate early. Another task I had to complete was finding references for another three letters of recommendation. With luck on my side my principle agreed to do one for me. After a long, frustrating battle to get a good recommendation letter out of one of my teachers I thought I finally succeeded, but, this was not the case. Her letter was the exact opposite of what I had hoped for! She had given a, poorly written, letter over why I should NOT be allowed to graduate early. I had almost lost hope, but, I looked back at all of my hard work and dedication and jumped right back to it! My second attempt with another teacher was much more promising, she had written a great letter of recommendation within 2 weeks’ time! After that I had no trouble at all convincing my school counselor to write a wonderful letter for me as well. With those letters I made it all the way to attending a board meeting, there
