Not only did I get to teach them bible stories, but I had the ability to become an influential person in their lives. I had the ability to become a role model to them, someone they could look up to, and someone they knew they could always reach out to when they were in need. Being a teacher isn’t only about teaching the curriculum you are required to teach. Being a teacher is also about helping students grow as a person, being someone that truly cares about them and someone that they can count on to help them not only with their schoolwork, but with the hardships that they will inevitably face. I love serving others and I believe that teaching is about giving your time to help students grow in more ways than one and by doing so, you are helping yourself grow as well. I want to teach because I care about children and I believe that I can be someone that they can look up to and someone that will always help them through their hardships in life. I want to do more than just teach my students the required curriculum, but I want to be an influential person in their lives. Even though I am currently pursuing my career in education. I am still not entirely sure what grade level I would like to teach, but I think that eventually something will happen in my time here at Baylor that will make it clear to me which grade I should teach. But, no matter what grade I end up teaching, my goal is to make a difference in our world and in the lives of children
