Why I Am Taking College Courses
Who doesn’t want to succeed in their dreams and work hard for that success? Growing up, my parents told me what every parent drills into their child’s head, “You can be anything you want to be!” In a perfect world, I would have been ecstatic to begin college and start my life! Unfortunately, that is not how my life panned out. It took motivation and drive to get me on the right track towards college. Once I was on that path, I dreamed as big as I wanted and here I am, taking another college course!
The year 2012 brought my greatest motivation, my beautiful son was born. Quickly realizing the responsibility of being a mother, I had to look at myself through his eyes. After recovering from giving birth, I immediately enrolled in classes at Daytona State College. My husband brought with him a different type of motivation to

One of those long term goals is to earn my Nurse Practitioner’s License. Working in the healthcare field my entire adult life, I grew to love helping others while seeing many flaws in the health care system. Upon earning my NP license, I hope to open a nursing home and work hard at fixing those flaws. Aside from my personal goals, the goal that drives me the most is proving to my son that education is important, life changing, and give him the confidence, in seeing me succeed, that he can do anything he puts his heart and hard work into.
English Composition 1 is another resource to gain knowledge of proper grammar and writing I’ll need to know in my career. As a nurse practitioner, different writing methods will be beneficial when it comes to communication throughout health care team. Although I feel my vocabulary is adequate, increasing my vocabulary is a goal of mine from taking this course as well. Upon completion of this course, I will be one step closer to fulfilling my next step to becoming a nurse practitioner, getting into the RN

The purpose of college, this question can be answered in many different ways. The purpose of college for some people might be to get a degree and move on into the next chapter in life, but I feel that college should be more than that. As a young person, choosing what to study is one of the hardest decision you have to make. According to a Washington Post article, “What’s the purpose of college: A job or an education?” by Jeffrey J. Selingo, learning and getting more knowledge about the world used to be a purpose of higher education, but nowadays it switched to getting a job after graduation rather than gaining more knowledge.
