Buckingham has several courses that are designated as AP courses, and I believe I should be taking them. Although many may struggle with the advanced content therein, I possess the skills required for academic success. I will succeed in these AP classes because I desire to take the courses, I possess the skills necessary to make me a good candidate, and I have plans to manage the workload in these classes. I wish to take the AP classes for a variety of reasons. Firstly, taking AP courses would give me an opportunity to increase my GPA. This opportunity to achieve a grade higher than 4.0 would be much appreciated. This allow me to stand out among other academically-inclined students when searching for colleges. Secondly, taking AP courses would help locate my peer group. It would be easier to locate those like me who wish to succeed academically, and therefore easier to get study partners. It would also decrease noise pollution, as I can at times be distracted by loud noises when I am …show more content…
Though I have classes of widely varying difficulty, I have similar grades in them all. Indeed, I have become adept at balancing the workloads among classes. Logically, I will be able to do similar things with my AP classes, dividing the workload evenly among them. I also keep track of my schoolloop assignments, looking at the site minimally twice daily. This gives me the knowledge concerning when my assignments are due, giving me time to prepare. It also assists me in considering what order in which to do assignments. I have, in the past two years, obtained a multitude of study tools, such as quizlet. This helps me absorb information in relatively short periods of time. Additionally, it helps me succeed on tests when needing to memorize any considerable volume of facts. Because of my plans to handle large workloads, and my other skills and mindsets, I believe I am a good candidate for an AP

The amount of work I have to do for an AP class is sometimes overwhelming. For example, in my AP Psychology class I was assigned to read a fifty two page chapter while taking notes and defining all fifty seven vocabulary words; the already arduous task was coupled with my chapter reading and book work for AP U.S. history. To simply write notes on a twenty page chapter of history takes two to three hours at times, so imagine doing more than twice the…

AP Chemistry has made me realize that you need to work hard for the things you want. AP Chemistry is by far the hardest class I have ever taken. It was full of hard concepts and ideas that I could not seem to understand. Most times, I stayed up studying for tests until three in the morning. My teacher had tests that were based on past AP exams and in order to reach the highest score, a five, you usually needed to get a minimum percentage of seventy percent.…

The biggest cost would be time as the workload of the class probably will be bigger than the honors class. However, I have a lot of time so the tradeoff would not matter for me. Another opportunity cost is potentially GPA because of the increased difficulty of the class, but I doubt it will be such a big problem. Thus, the benefits clearly outweigh the cost for taking this class so the result of a cost-benefit analysis says I should enroll in AP Government and…

WHY I WANT TO JOIN THE HONORS PROGRAM Alighting from a Boeing 747 jetliner on the JFK tarmac on Thursday evening, April 28, 2016, I walked into what could be called a new page in my life story—a new start. That was my first time on this side of the hemisphere. With little money, zero friends, one close relative and little to hold on to, I found myself leaning on only a thread of asset – my mind. Knowing this, I vowed to keep this God given asset alive and growing with all my soul and might, and what better way to do this than to identify with people of like passion, people who will add to me.…

As a young person, choosing what to study is one of the hardest decision you have to make. According to a Washington Post article, “What’s the purpose of college: A job or an education?” by Jeffrey J. Selingo, learning and getting more knowledge about the world used to be a purpose of higher education, but nowadays it switched to getting a job after graduation rather than gaining more knowledge. Education is the most important factor in order to be successful, but lots of people are in college because their parents want them to, while others think that college is the next destination they have to go through after high school. To me, college is the place that teaches us how to think, how to analyze things thoroughly and to pursue a good career…
