Albert Schweitzer once said, “One who gains strength by overcoming obstacles possesses the only strength which can overcome adversity”. I believe I should be the recipient of the Bradley Hulse Memorial Scholarship because I have the desire and commitment to give back to my community, just as the founders of the amazing LEAD program did. Another reason why I think I would be an adequate prospect for this scholarship is because some of my best traits are persistence and my ability to overcome any challenge. An example of this would be when I moved to the United states, seeking to get better job opportunities and to escape from the violence and injustice Mexico has been facing in recent years.…

I play on the women's collegiate softball team at St. Thomas University. I have been playing softball since I could walk and, along with every other athlete, my dream is to play on the biggest and brightest stage possible. For softball that is the NCAA College World Series. Unfortunately, I don't have the ability to make millions of dollars playing professional softball like many other professional athletes. This is it for me because college is the highest level of softball I will play in my life and I don't want to settle at a school where I know my athletic ability and hard work could get me so much further.…

The Katherine Trewhitt Scholarship would impact my life by showing me my potential and helping me avoid debt. I see a massive part of transitioning from a child to an adult is learning to be independent. From my point of view, independence is found through hard work and responsibility. This gateway into adulthood is found when a student begins applying for colleges and scholarships. Applying for scholarships takes a considerable amount of time and effort, thus making it a challenge to see if through the years a student has learned to work hard and be responsible.…

I believe that I should be awarded this scholarship because I would like to pursue a career as a pediatric surgeon or be in the emergency room as a trauma surgeon. The reasoning for this is that about a year ago, my mom had a heart attack. Her doctor informed my family that it was just about a 100% blockage in her heart and I remember how it felt when I had heard that; my heart shattered and I thought about how my entire life was going to change. After that, everything within the medical field sparked an interest in me. I want to make a positive impact on society by helping those in their time of need and this scholarship will give me the courage to…

Let me begin by saying this: Although I do feel I am deserving of a scholarship, I recognize that I am not the only one who deserves this honor, nor do I think that I am better than anyone else. But I will not be shy when describing to you why I believe I truly deserve a scholarship. First off, I would like to point out that I have an amazing work ethic. To be frank, most of my employers have complimented me on my work ethic and ability to follow through with every task. I do my best to do everything I am given to the best of my ability.…

I believe that academics will be a positive addition to my recovery, allowing me to expand my mind and giving me the opportunity to be successful through my education, ultimately enhancing my recovery by teaching me life skills to help maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle. One factor that remains constant in both recovery and academics is the commitment, and I feel that incorporating my recovery skills into my academics will eventually allow me to finish my academic career. Before I was introduced to recovery, I had no sense of urgency or priority in my life whatsoever. I believe that this is a strong reason why I failed at my first college attempt. I let academics fall back on the list of importance in my life, and eventually, I was not able to make up for this…
