Why I Pass My Algebra Class

Improved Essays
This semester seemed to pass by quickly, I believe the main reason I did not make an A in this class was due to the fact that even though I had good intentions in the beginning of the semester to go to tutoring I did not realize how demanding intermediate algebra was going to be. I had to attend class twice a week and classes were four hours long it was not physically exhausting , but it was mentally exhausting. So, as a result, I did not go to tutoring for English when I should have to have my papers critiqued for mistakes. Eight weeks into this semester I found out I did not pass my intermediate algebra class which left me frustrated and slightly unmotivated with all my classes. I put in at least forty plus hours a week on the intermediate algebra which did not help at all in the end. I am a determined person and I do not give up easily I have failed many times at various things I have set out to do over the years , but I never give up. After learning I did not pass my intermediate algebra class I signed up …show more content…
I did make time during the research paper to go to tutoring and I know that helped on that grade, unfortunately, after I was helped she had suggested I correct my mistakes and bring it back to have it looked over again. I was not able to do that because of time constraints. So while I am sure I could have received a higher grade if I had gone back the second time, I am fine with the final grade. I have managed to keep my GPA close to a 3.0 for most of my time at the Victoria college I wish I had finished with an A it would have really boosted my GPA. However, I am not going to give myself a hard time as I am just about ready to graduate from Victoria college and move on to the University and at this point in my education I am mainly focused on simply passing and moving on and not overly concerned with letter grades as long as I am passing and moving forward that is my

I never thought that I would be sitting on top of a washing machine waiting for my clothes to dry while at the same time, writing a shitty first draft essay. It’s amazing where education can take you. In my first semester of composition, I read “Brainology” by Carol S. Dweck and “The Student Fear Factor” by Rebecca Cox. In Brainology, Dweck explains that there are two different mindsets: a growth mindset and a fixed mindset. A growth mindset is when a person has a mindset that intelligence can learn their mistakes.…

There’s a Chinese Proverb that says, “Failure is not falling down, but refusing to get back up again.” I really wish I heard that quote when I thought I was a failure, but really was just being lazy. In Carol Dweck’s article “Brainology” a study is conducted on seventh grade students and their mindsets. Their mindsets were measured and studied for two years. Dweck studied the difference between the fixed mindset and the growth mindset students and how they did in school.…

My grades this past year were and are not indicative of who I am as a student, or as a person in general. My junior year of high school, I decided to do PSEO, thinking it was an easy way to get credits for both high school and college. I did not realize the struggle I was going to have just trying to be accountable for myself during my senior year. My daily schedule consisted of work, soccer, managing the high school boy’s hockey team, volunteer work, spending time with my high school friends and taking college courses. I took the most challenging classes through Anoka-Ramsey Community College, thinking that like high school these would be the best for me.…

I fulfilled everything in the contract to receive an A grade, and I believe my efforts should earn that grade. Although I needed to resubmit a few assignments, I know that only increased my knowledge and enhanced my understanding. I have learned a lot through this class…

I never thought that I could do 60% of 7th grade math on my own in 2 weeks, and it just seemed like an impossibility! Over the next few days I pondered over what my decision should be. Should I just quit and be placed back in standard math, or should I put in the extra effort to make it into accelerated math? I decided to try and see what I could get done, and it ended up being one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I’m at my desk in math class and suddenly I hear “Sam, would you come here for a second?” said Mrs. Kukovec.…

I had a training with the army, and that required me to absence from school for two weeks. Unlike my other class, I didn’t have a chance to work ahead of the class with the instructor for the two weeks that I would be missing. Therefore, I was worried that I wouldn’t catch up with my classmates and end up failing the class. However, Ms. Anna was generous and extended the assignment due date for me; she even gave me an extra-credit assignment to replace the credits that I missed during my two weeks in training.…

I did succeed in making my grades but by the last months of the semester I realize that the stress that came with procrastination wasn’t worth in ad I started working on time management. In high school the words time management are repeated but never really explains. I grew up hating the simple idea of time management, but I have since learned that is means balance. It is easy to think of staying in and doing nothing but studies, but true time management is the balancing the responsibilities you must complete and the things you want to do. This realization has taught me that I can have a “fun” college experience without forgetting the reason I am at a university.…
