For the average person, anything can stress them out, their job, personal health, eating, free time and more. Now imagine living your life in poverty where you have so little money you must make decisions based off your day to day situations. So, what is Poverty? Poverty is the state of being extremely poor, even though it may seem as a financial setback it can also be seen as a mental one too. With the limited money one would have it would make that person choose hard choices and would sometimes prove to be the wrong one. Linda Tirado the author of “Why I Make Terrible Decisions” a blog post from 2013 explains her daily struggles as someone living in poverty and the choices she makes. Day after day a person would have to deal with the various problems they encounter with and yet try to move on to the next task at hand. As for Linda Tirado, she says “It doesn't leave you much room to think about what you are doing, only to attend to the next thing and the next. Planning isn't in the mix.” For her and the millions of other living in poverty, they are more focused on their daily lives than the long-term goals of getting out of their economic situation. In the Article “How Poverty taxes the Brain” the author Emily Badger writes “little bandwidth left over to do many of the things that might lift them out of poverty – like go to night school, or search for a new job, or even remember to pay bills on time.” With limited time and money, it would be extremely hard for anyone to get ahead of their daily lives and almost impossible to jump up a social …show more content…
Just because you live well in either the middle or upper class doesn’t mean this couldn’t happen to you, poverty can and will affect everyone. Even though most will think of a plan to deal with their new financial siltation they wouldn’t know how to deal with the stress. And after experiencing this stress with new problems, would they be in the right state of mind to make tough choices. The stress and pressure of poverty on a person is more than we think and the results on a person will only make it worse and last
