Starting at the beginning, second grade, I was attending public school and private school simultaneously. The private school that I was attending was to learn the polish language and the public school was for English and all the other subjects. This is where I developed an issue with English; the problem presented itself when I began to mix the 2 different languages. I couldn’t distinguish between them and any reading I had done didn’t make any sense, for I was reading every other word in the other language. The problem only got worse as time passed; I began to fall behind in both of the linguistic courses and no matter how much I tried to fix the issue it persisted.
I had immediately stopped going to the private school for a second language, this didn’t fix the problem but it did change it into a simpler one. After my third year in elementary school the issue of mixing up the two languages had disappeared, but another dilemma was present. In the year that it took me to fix the original problem I had fallen behind almost one year. Of course the problem was only in English so I was not held back to repeat a year of school instead i continued through with a lower grade. Up until the junior year of …show more content…
I had a chance to meet new people and the educational environment was completely different than the one in Illinois. All of the schools that I was in previously were always “in door” building with everything connected. The school that I started attending in California was like the ones in movies; there were separate building for each subject and the campus was open. I found that the teachers there were more helpful/caring about their students. The English teacher that I had, although I can’t remember her name, helped me improve my reading and writing skills. She didn’t do anything special, but for some reason I just understood the way she
