First of all, I did not know much about the topic of sociology. I would much rather prefer the topic of psychology, which is similar and different, in many ways. First, I always hated assigned readings until I came to Clarkson, and have never read an assigned book before. I read the Clarkson book that was assigned over the summer, but I sped through it quickly and did not like it. I did not like the book, not because I thought it was horrible, I just thought that it was absolutely boring. I see any assigned readings as boring. However, for the readings that were assigned in UNIV, I actually took my time reading them, and loved every book that I had to read. I was able to enjoy what I was reading for school for the first time. I also learned that that I can eat foods that I previously thought I hated. Prior to coming to Clarkson, I never ate food items like mushrooms, peppers, or onions. Me not eating foods that I did not like quickly changed, because it was the only way to add variety to what I ate; otherwise I would be eating the same thing every day. So, overall, I came to like and appreciate all of the things that I hated, or did not like, before. On the downside, I did learn that I would much rather being living in a city, and that a city is where I belong. As for my future, I still see myself becoming a medical doctor, with a focus in psychiatry; that aspect of myself has not changed at all.
