Essay on Why I Join The Honors Program
Alighting from a Boeing 747 jetliner on the JFK tarmac on Thursday evening, April 28, 2016, I walked into what could be called a new page in my life story—a new start. That was my first time on this side of the hemisphere. With little money, zero friends, one close relative and little to hold on to, I found myself leaning on only a thread of asset – my mind. Knowing this, I vowed to keep this God given asset alive and growing with all my soul and might, and what better way to do this than to identify with people of like passion, people who will add to me. Like Prov. 27:17 said “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another” (NIV).
Every good student desires a high level of academic excellence that lays a solid foundation for their future career. My reasons for joining the honors program of (Community College of Baltimore County) CCBC includes the above mentioned and more.
High level of Academic excellence. One of the main reasons I want to join the Honors Program is the unique opportunity it offers for academic excellence. It literally places a demand on you to be excellent and gives you the help you need to keep up. Academic excellence as I know it is a key that helps one open doors in future careers. It is the first step towards getting the desired post-graduate spot or dream job. The very requirement for being considered for the program says it all –a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 out of the possible four points. In order…
