In today 's society intelligence is often marked by the level of education a person has received. However, if someone has a minimal amount of schooling or even none at all they are labeled most of the time as uneducated or dumb even though that is far from the truth. A person doesn’t need to have a high school or college degree to be considered smart in my opinion. There are many blue collar workers who use their brains just as much as their brawn. This is something that Rose would agree with and that is the main argument in the article.

When someone is high class or even middle class they will often times not communicate with those they assume are low class for various reasons. In the last page of the article rose writes that, ‘ If we think that whole categories of people identified by class or occupation are not that bright, then we reinforce social separations and cripple our ability to talk across cultural divides’ (913). One of the reasons why it 's so important to strengthen our social classes is because having a strong country is better by having a united society instead one separated and weakened by them. Sometimes people can be divided by the most insignificant of things and this can escalate to a bigger problem if comes down to classes since over the course of history their have been civil wars over the rich and the poor and nothing is solved in the end often times and if things get better it didn 't become that way without much bloodshed so if social classes become better this can all be avoided or even lessened. Having respect for people instead of looking at their jobs and thinking that they have a low intelligence if they have a blue collar job is one of the first steps that can taken in order to insure a stronger society. It 's all up to the people though and although these methods are not foolproof it 's just one of many ways of trying to bring people together and having respect towards others even if we are not there yet and it doesn 't seem possible it does not mean that it never will
