Why I Hate School

Decent Essays
You know how kids are always saying that they hate school? Well here’s the way I see it.
They just aren’t able to really visualize themselves as anything but a sports star, an actor/actress, a celebrity, etc. They aren’t driven to be anything else. I’ve always wanted to build things like a mechanical engineer does, and I know that in order to become one I will have to go to a good college like Texas A&M. In order to do that, I need to do well in school, and I think that PREP will help me learn how to handle all the work and stress that will come in my future as I progress. I’m very excited to finally have an opportunity like this, and I have been waiting for this since my sister started going to PREP. I think that this will be a great opportunity

Every student can fit into the one-size-fits-all model of standards, but not every student can fit into The One-Size-Fits-All Model of Standards. Every student is their own model of standards because every student has his own highs and lows and minimums and maximums. Limits to a student’s education in any topic that catches his attention is the cause of eventual boredom and declining motivation, which Davidson believes is the cause of students dropping out of school. In “Project Classroom Makeover,” Davidson details her visit to a middle school and highlights her observation of a young green-haired girl who sat absentmindedly while the other students fussed about Davidson’s appearance, both literally and figuratively. The young girl showed no desire to participate and even “[looked] defeated by school,” (61) but by the time she began to draw that all changed.…

Going back to the Elementary and Middle School days, we remember continuously glaring at the black and white analog clock, hoping those last 15 minutes would flash in a blink of an eye. Having to do the same routine five days a week, and ten months a year, eventually starts to get old and children start getting bored of constantly having the same schedule. In John Taylor Gatto’s “Against School”, he talks about the weakness of public schooling and how it can be detrimental to a students intelligence development. He calls the American Schooling System as a “childish program” because of the repetitive school schedule we get used to. Leading up to teens referring to schooling as boredom, then makes a point where children should make their own…

School is the beginning of our adventure through life. It not only teaches us the mandatory lessons needed but also ones that stick to us throughout life. Whether it was that one extraordinary teacher or the one everyone hated, students would still learn and use it to their advantage. Unfortunately, this was the mindset of teenagers/ young adult’s years ago; now the students of today aren’t understanding the value of their education and how far it can take them.…

To be honest, I hate school with a passion, yet I love learning as much as living. As a child, schooling created a feeling of loneliness and sadness that echoed throughout my life, even now. I didn’t meet the standard levels for literacy and was separated from my classmates in elementary school for special reading and writing classes. Also the lack of freedom to say and move the way I wished to, and the rebellion that stemmed out of me in middle school due to these limitations. Finally, the conforming in high school to appease my mother, friends that drove me over the edge, yet even now I feel the same bull-crap in college.…
