Why I Become A Teacher

Decent Essays
Have you ever had a teacher that just didn’t care, put in no effort, or just plain shouldn’t have been a teacher? Today our school systems are flooded with teachers whose motives for being a teacher are just the summers and winters off, they had no other options, or they just thought it would’ve been an easy job. Our schools are crying for change, and I believe this generation has the potential to fix the broken system. That, among many other reasons, is why I chose to be a teacher.
One of the main reasons I have for wanting to become a teacher is because I have seen how dysfunctional our schools are today. I’ve just come out of the system, and I know how bad it really is and what it’s doing to our kids. I know as a teacher I would work really hard to change the things

Many of my favorite teachers were English teachers. They always taught with such passion that it got me interested in the subject. I believe that it is important to love your subject if you’re going to teach it. The teachers who were passionate about their subject always helped me learn more and could explain things better, the class was always more interesting and the teacher was almost always happy. These teachers inspired me to become a teacher, because I want to be able to make a difference in my student’s life just as they affected me. I want to be able to inspire students and make them passionate about learning just as my teachers inspired me.
Another reason I chose to be a teacher was because I have a natural instinct to lead. However, I don’t view teaching as leading so much like a boss but more of a guide. I view teaching as a teacher trading information with students. The teachers learn from the students and the students learn from the teacher. Teachers guide their students and instruct them on how to learn and give them information. I believe those things are very compatible with my leadership

Unfair Power There are many teachers who do not truly care about the overall prosperity of the student and lack passion in their work. For example, during my sophomore year of high school I had a class with a foreign student who asked our teacher for help. This student was clearly struggling and actively trying to learn the topic, but the teacher decided to mock his accent rather than assist. Another example would be the time I was having a rough day in class and I told my teacher that I couldn’t come up in front of the class.…

1 I come from a long line of educators and administrators on both sides of my family. Various relatives of mine have taught me to understand and appreciate the importance of education. This being the case, they have inspired my decision to be a teacher, preferably an elementary school teacher. Last year, I sat in on my aunt’s third grade class at Washington Irving, an elementary school in my district that I attended for three years. After visiting the classroom a handful of times, I absolutely fell in love.…

'If we were to experience work as truly meaningful, there must also be something to be found in the job itself, some intrinsic meaning, not merely getting paid' (Svendson, 2016, p 51). At this current point in life, in my current position in my job at The Beachouse I can honestly say that I am not in this job because I have a passion for children or because I love what I do. I am in this job because at this period of time in my life I need to make money. But in saying this there are positives about the job which make it more enjoyable, the main thing being the friendships between workers and the out of work catch ups with these people. You might find that other people in the same job have a passion to see the smiling faces of the children…

The Paramount Issues of High School What assets, features, and rules would the perfect high school have? In Leon Botstein’s article Let Teenagers Try Adulthood, Botstein calls out the issues of modern high school and claims that high school needs to be completely reinvented, offering many ideas as to how schools can better the education and experiences of their students such as having teenagers graduate at sixteen and ending harmful high school culture. Although Botstein makes some good points, the most important issues that need to be corrected to make American high schools more ideal are hiring more caring teachers, removing cliques and social class, and letting teenagers have more responsibility. Teachers are to schools what blood is to the body; schools cannot be schools without them.…

I am applying for a PGCE teacher training course because I have always had an interest in working with young people within the education sector. Through voluntary experience I have been privileged to exercise my passion for helping the future generation achieve their aspired goals and potentials, as I was fortunate to have received this support during my own educational journey. The American Education System is considered to be ranked 36th in the world wide ranks of education systems as of 2013 (Coleman). This ranking indicates that there is a major problem with the American Education System. Though many people believe that reform must come in the form of larger budgets this is not the case, money actually does not have a direct link with student performance (Robinson). The reform for the American Education System needs to come in the form of teachers with more will and want to help, focusing on the true needs of students and shifting the focus from testing to real learning. From the start, teachers have had one of the biggest impacts on a student’s education experience.…

Please draft your teaching Philosophy (max 250 words): As a Teaching Assistant, I believe there are two main goals that must be accomplished: keeping my own integrity and credibility in tact at all times and doing my best to assist students in their learning and studying. One’s integrity comes before learning because it is a virtue that take time to earn and can be diminished in seconds. I believe that as a Teaching Assistant, before I assist in learning, I must establish my own integrity to my students and relay to no-tolerance policy of dishonesty and cheating. Secondly, it is a teacher’s responsibility to assist their students in learning the best way possible. A teacher needs patience and diligence in order to help their students grow in their learning.…
