I deserve to be awarded this scholarship because I am not financially prepared for college. My parents have chronic financial problems that have left me and my siblings unprepared for the expenses that come with college. I am reluctant to rely on getting a student loan because it is the only kind of debt that you cannot get rid of. I am hoping to accumulate enough scholarship money to make it through college while working a part time job to afford tuition and other necessary expenses. I never fully realized how close I was to college until this year, and so I am trying to become financially independent from my mom.
