Growing up, everyone says they are going to change the world. Whether it's by becoming the president, a doctor, or an astronaut, children always have big plans for their future. However, as they get older, many seem to lose a lot of their ambition. Instead of striving to become a policeman or a firefighter, they only seem to care about getting any job, even if it's a job that would embarrass their younger self. I still strive to change the world. I'm going to do everything I can to attain a career that wouldn't leave a five year old me shaking his head. Although my ambitions aren't of quite the same levity as being the president, I believe I have the potential to change the world nonetheless. I plan to study chemical engineering at Columbia University next year. As a chemical engineer, I will strive to develop cost-effective yet more efficient medicines for patients who usually struggle with treating their diseases. My goal is to develop these medicines so patients, such as those with HIV, will have more accessible and affordable treatment options than anything currently …show more content…
I have a lot of pride in where I come from and the schools I went to when I was younger. I had done everything I could to develop the best possible reputation and image for myself while attending these schools. Also, my mother was highly involved in the PTA and school programs throughout not only my schooling, but my two younger brothers' as well. Receiving the PTA Scholarship would mean that my family and I have invested all the time and effort we could into the schools and school programs, and it would mean I would have the opportunity to continue to represent and support Bloomingdale schools throughout my
