When I was about eight years old I decided that I wanted to work in the medical field. This may be attributed to watching my grandmother receive medical care frequently for both type I diabetes and kidney failure. We lived in a rural community, and I vividly remember her being flown to a bigger city to receive the emergency care that she needed.
