While yes, I could do my basics, there what the hell is the point when i'll end up transferring to a four year institute that already has a degree plan for my very specific major that barely includes any of the basics to begin with. I'll take a half year math, two years English, one science and one history over two full years of everything anyway. Plus I have scholarship money through the university already and can finish in less time while also being certified to teach. Sorry but i'd rather start on my degree now than wait. My plans include going to UIW, raising my daughter and working my ass off simultaneously. As soon as I walk that stage with my 200,000 piece of paper that says I specialize in music education I'm marching my butt to the graduate program because guess what? You can’t hold a family together with just a bachelors (let alone a flipping associates). I’m getting my masters at the same time I will be hopefully starting my teaching career and later move on to getting my doctorate in Music Education from Boston University. I love music. Not just making music but teaching others how to make music. Why education? Well duh I love teaching others so why not teach what I love to do? There are many benefits to being a teacher.BAM Music Education. Holidays off, child can go to a school in the district you teach in so you don’t have to worry about a sitter when there is a holiday off. No wait just kidding teacher work days are a thing, but nobody is gonna stop me from bringing my daughter with me. See life is not just about living in the moment and enjoying life blah blah blah. You know what makes me happy? Ordering pizza and binge watching movies knowing all my bills are paid and I managed to put money in my savings account. “Money doesn’t buy happiness” yes it does. I’d rather be happy, have money, and have my bills paid, then broke with no bills paid and severe depression because my bills are unpaid and past due. Therefore yes a collegiate education will lead me to success because it opens up a career choice that pays more than McDonalds or HEB. What is a successful adult?
