Personal Statement For Nursing

Ten years ago I emigrated from my county of birth to the United States to continue my life here. I chose the medical field because I was always fascinated with it, primarily because my nature was always been to help people. I have had a long journey that has led me to this exiting point in my career which has included full time work and full time school, learning English language and adjusting to a new culture. This journey has made me who I am now; a very dedicated health care provider caring for patients, striving to provide quality care and being the patients’ advocate at all times. It was tremendous loss to me and my family. The emotional pain was extremely excruciating, primarily because we did not understand what was going on. I just knew that I lost the closest person in my life. Now I can appreciate how patients and patients’ families feel from losing their loved ones and emphasize with patients and families who is going through the loss. Subsequently to my brother being hospitalized, I spend significant time interacting with doctors, nurses and other health care providers and that made me realize and appreciate the complexity of teamwork of health care providers. Furthermore, that made me want to become a part of the health care team myself. The role of the nurse and clinician is truly a matter of life and death for patients. This experience deeply impacted me and primarily drove my decision to become a nurse. I have a passion for learning and solving problems. Continuing education is absolutely essential for providing high quality care and will enable me to serve patients in a greater capacity as a physician’s assistant. Additionally, I am convinced that I will be a great asset to the physician assistant profession in the future because I will bring with me my knowledge, education, expertise, experience, and my passion from being a highly qualified and competent nurse.
