Why I Chose Penn

Penn has so many tremendous opportunities for its students and I would like to major in economics in the Wharton School of Business to take advantage of those opportunities. I would pursue concentrations in Finance and Operations, Information & Decisions, with a track in either Decision Processes or Operations Management/Management Science. I’m very impressed with how flexible the major is and how it allows the individual students to pursue their unique passion in their own way. It truly allows the student to make their education the way they want it and I would love to be a part of that. I am also interested in combining my major with a major outside of the Wharton school and Penn makes that very manageable. I have seen through my business experience and networking that adding a broader view and obtaining a major outside of the business school along with a business degree can help keep people a step ahead of the competition.

The first way I would explore my interests would be to take advantage of the Lunch & Learn program to help me to better get to know Penn, my teachers, and my classmates. I am very impressed with how the diverse community is supportive of a unique blend of cultures and belief and has the most international students of any Ivy League university. I strive to meet people of different backgrounds and of different worldviews, because that’s how great progress can be made, whether in the classroom or in the world. Growing up with sports and still being a part of a sports team, I have come to really appreciate the value of a team and its clear Penn shares the value.
