Why I Chose High School

Decent Essays
I've always liked the idea of being a business major, ever since being a little kid. I would travel downtown into Chicago and wonder who these tall men in suits are. Why do they look so busy and important? My dream was to be one of them. As ive gone throughout high school my interest in business has only increased, i've taken classes with a business focus. These classes have been my favorite classes i've taken in high school, they've also been the classes where i've done my best. My goal is to come into your school, work hard in my classes, become involved in some of the other activities your university offers, and then graduate in a timely manner. At this point I will weigh my options should I work, or apply immediately to an school

In 2015, 8.1 million non-traditional students were actively enrolled in courses at higher learning institutions in America. To some extent, the rise in non-traditional student college and university enrollment is driven by the hasty evolution of business technology, which has left many individual feeling professionally out of touch and devalued, and compared to recent innovations, changes that loom on the horizon will evoke this feeling even more so. Fortunately, there are options available for working adults who want to update their skill sets.…

As a high school senior, the question I am most used to hearing is, “where do you want to go to college,” and my habitual response is the Wharton Undergraduate School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. But I think that the more apt question is “why do you want to go to college?” Personally, I want to learn. The Wharton motto of “knowledge for action” embodies this desire to learn and use this knowledge to pursue a career in something that engages and interests me. I am an aspiring investment banker and international business executive and am intrigued by mergers and acquisitions, investment banking from an international perspective, and the effect of international events on the global economy and the ensuing effect on corporations.…

In the summer you can find me busing tables and answering to the hangry tourists that dine at Bar Harbor Restaurant. Eight hour shifts, seven days a week, but on the occasional slow days I’d get to cut out early so my summers are still filled with adventure. Hiking uphill through the thick brush to reach the peak of Dude Mountain, where the ground meets the watercolor skies. Biking through the overpopulated wooden docks downtown, points for pedestrians (just kidding). From fishing to jumping off the docks, to camping beneath the starry skies with friends, nothing beats Alaskan Summers.…

On a particularly sunny morning in Washington, Mr. Charbonnel, sipping on a mug of tea over skype, answered my question regarding his choice in university. He gave me two separate answers to my questions. The first answer being the one he gave to his family and friends, “I wanted to go to school with my sister so I applied to Washington State!”. But after a moment’s chuckle he responded, “The actual reason why I choose Washington State over any other school was that I had procrastinated all first semester, and it was the only school that was actually still taking applicants.”. Having known Mr. Brandon Charbonnel most of my life, once as a teacher now as a friend and a somewhat of a role model, I was satisfied with the second answer he had…

Every morning in grade eight, I would wake and throw on my white blouse, my rainbow plaid skirt, my matching plaid tie, my green knee high socks and my black leather shoes and go off to school. I wasn’t a good student throughout elementary school, I had breezed by at the bottom of my class. My grade eight English teacher even told my parents and I that I was going to fail high school English if nothing changed by next year. While everyone was studying with their SSAT tutors and stressing over high school applications, as if they were applying to the Ivy League. I applied to one school called Crestwood Preparatory College.…
