Why I Chose Dental School

When imagining my future, I picture a long road of education before I have the opportunity to work in my desired career. In college, I will complete activities that will allow me to stand out to dental school admissions. I plan on majoring in biology, minoring in one or two additional subjects, and participating in various volunteering activities throughout college. I believe I have a head start on other pre-dental students because I will have completed at least nineteen college credit hours before my high school graduation. These credit hours demonstrate dedication to education and prove I have the mental toughness necessary to complete herculean college courses. Working at an orthodontic office has allowed me to learn the instruments used by orthodontists and the setting I would be working in daily. Having a background knowledge of orthodontia will alleviate a portion of stress during my first year of dental school, which is the number one reason for dental school dropouts. The reduced stress and increased confidence I will experience will propel me towards my future of dentistry. As I grasp the aspects of orthodontia throughout my work, I am further intrigued by the possibilities of my future.
