Why I Chose College Courses

Decent Essays
At my old high school, the courses offered are completely different from my new high school. Now that I am attending Collegiate, I have such an amazing opportunity to take college classes, in hopes of earning my AA degree when I graduate from high school. I am getting a two year head start compared to others my age. My old school, Mckeel Academy, offers very few AP and dual enrolment courses. I had not taken any there but had planned to before I got accepted into Collegiate. The courses I am taking now are definitely an advantage when it comes to college applications. I have already noticed a big change in my GPA just after one semester. I am excited to see what is in store for my future education.

I originally applied to UCF as a film major, but realized that was a bad idea over the summer and changed to undeclared. I remained that way until mid-September, but after meeting with my academic advisor, I was able to decide on Business Management as the major I want to pursue, at least temporarily. With that in mind, I was able to start planning my classes for next semester and beyond, and will be starting courses in Macroeconomics and Computer Fundamentals for Business. Even if I change my major later, I’m probably going to stick with business of some sort – perhaps marketing, or finance of some sort – so those courses will still be helpful. I’m very glad that I was able to find something to work towards for the next few years.…

Why are you in College? “You must go to college to succeed in life.” This quote is something my parents would regularly say to me as a kid growing up. When I got to high school and realized some people actually did not intend on going to high school it blew my mind.…
