Since I was a young girl, I have loved learning and discovering new things. Vacations from school, for me, have always consisted of visiting historical and educational places. I love visiting museums of any kind with the idea of learning new things. My passion for science and animals has only continued to grow and grow as I get older. In 7th grade, when I truly began taking science classes, I really became enthralled with all that there was to discover about things I knew and others I had never even heard of. While I have always be especially interested in animals and genetics, I began to become more and more intrigued when I discovered all that there was still to learn about those topics. All of these creatures, both great and small, are made of the same basic pieces. While all of the pieces are the same, they come together to make the most marvelous creatures that are on this planet to do astonishing things and there is something truly beautiful about that. All of these components must work together to ensure that the organism thrives in its environment. Genetics is fascinating due to the fact that it explains how the smallest of changes can be detrimental to the organism as a whole. There is a great deal that goes into how and why an organism works the way that it does, the way that it matures and progreses through its life cycle. These processes and their innerworkings have truly sparked an interest in me, which is why I wish to continue my studies in these areas. This past semester I took developmental biology; a class that connected everything about science that I love. We worked with live animals, learned about the earliest moments of an organism's life cycle along with the genetic components that allow for reliability in the system. The experiments performed in this class involved utilizing animal systems such as zebrafish, sea urchins, Xneopus, and chickens. For all of the systems, the environments had to remain as sterile as possible to prevent infection. Each system brought new challenges with their development. The
